Questions

Plain answers about AI and authorship.

What Origo keeps, what it does not, and what no record can show. For the full explanation, read about the origin layer.

What is the origin layer?

It is the part of a record that keeps what a person expressed before an AI model generated anything. In Origo, your note or voice transcript is saved as its own source first. AI answers are stored as separate records, labeled as machine output and linked to the exact version of your words they used. Your later responses and decisions are recorded as yours.

How is Origo different from C2PA or Content Credentials?

Content Credentials, built on the C2PA standard, attach a signed history to a file showing which tools created or edited it. They answer the question: what touched this asset? Origo answers a different question: what did this person express before AI answered, and how did their thinking develop? The two are complementary. Origo does not replace Content Credentials and does not claim C2PA conformance.

Can Origo prove I didn't use AI?

No tool can prove that, and Origo does not claim to. Origo cannot see what you did in other apps. What it can give you is a dated record of the notes, ideas, and outlines you expressed, kept separate from any AI help you asked for inside Origo, so you can show how your thinking developed.

Is Origo an AI detector?

No. AI detectors estimate whether finished text was machine-written, and those estimates can be wrong. Origo does not score or judge text. It keeps a record of what you expressed and what AI contributed, as it happens.

Does Origo record what I think?

It records what you express: what you write, say and review as a transcript, or choose to add as context. It cannot record thoughts you never express, and it does not treat an AI's guess about you as something you said.

What does "The model forgets. Origo remembers." mean?

AI conversations end, context windows fill, and providers retire models. Origo keeps your contributions in a record you govern, so the thinking outlives any one session or model. Reopening a saved sequence and continuing with a different model is a development goal, not a shipped capability.

Is a capture date proof of when I had an idea?

No. A capture time is a system observation of when something was saved. Origo's integrity evidence can detect whether a covered record changed after it was committed, and a witness outside Origo can show that a commitment existed by a certain time. Neither proves when an idea first occurred to you.

Is an Origo record legal evidence?

Origo does not claim that its records establish identity, originality, truth, ownership of intellectual property, or legal admissibility. If you need evidence for a legal matter, ask a lawyer.

Where is my data stored?

Pocket Chronicle keeps your record encrypted on your iPhone, with no account, backend, or cloud synchronization. Optional book lookup sends your search query and the selected book's ID to Open Library; your thought text is not sent. The web version of Origo is an invited private alpha.

When can I use Origo, and what will it cost?

Origo is in private alpha. Pocket Chronicle for iPhone targets a November 2026 release and has not launched. Pricing has not been announced. Ask for early access and we will let you know when you can start.

Can my company add the origin layer to our product?

We are open to pilot conversations with teams building AI writing, research, education, and decision tools. Pilots are scoped design partnerships. A production SDK or API, commercial terms, and service guarantees are not available today.
